Winter Road Brine in Charlotte: How It Damages Your Car and How to Wash It Off

A mobile car wash that doesn't scratch your paint

How an exterior detail works

01
Wheels first
Wheels and tires are the dirtiest part of the car, so they're cleaned first with their own brushes and buckets.
02
Foam and pre-rinse
Thick foam softens dirt and pollen so most of it rinses off before a mitt touches the paint.
03
Hand wash
Two buckets, grit guards, clean microfiber mitts — top to bottom.
04
Decontaminate
Iron remover and clay bar pull out what washing can't (Exterior Detail).
05
Dry and protect
Air and plush towels, then sealant, trim and tire dressing.

What Charlotte does to your paint

Pollen season
From March to May a yellow film covers every car. Wiping it dry scratches; foam and rinse lift it safely.
Sap and bird droppings
Acidic and baked in by summer sun. Sealant gives you a buffer; leaving them for weeks etches the clear coat.
Lovebugs and summer bugs
Bug splatter on the front bumper turns acidic as it dries. We soften and remove it before it marks the paint.
Winter brine
Road brine on I-77, I-85 and I-485 sticks to lower panels and wheels and speeds up corrosion.

Exterior detailing FAQ

Is a mobile hand wash really safer than a car wash?

Yes. Brush and cloth tunnel washes drag grit from the cars before yours across your paint — that’s where most swirl marks come from. We pre-rinse, foam, and wash with clean mitts using the two-bucket method, so dirt is lifted rather than scrubbed in.

What's the difference between the Exterior Wash and the Exterior Detail?

The Exterior Wash is a careful hand wash, wheels and tires, glass and a spray sealant — ideal every few weeks. The Exterior Detail adds chemical and clay-bar decontamination and a 6-month paint sealant, so the paint feels smooth and stays protected through a season.

Do you need my water or electricity?

No. Our van carries its own water and power. If your HOA or apartment complex restricts water use, tell us when you book and we’ll use our low-water setup.

Will an exterior detail remove swirl marks?

No — washing and sealing make the paint clean and glossy, but swirls are scratches in the clear coat. Removing them is paint correction.

How often should I get an exterior detail in Charlotte?

A full Exterior Detail every 3–4 months, with a wash every 2–4 weeks in between. Pollen season and winter brine are the times not to skip. Our maintenance plan handles the in-between washes for you.

What happens if it rains?

We reschedule at no cost when rain would ruin the result. Light drizzle before a wash isn’t a problem; rain right after sealing is, so we watch the forecast with you.
